Port Harcourt, Nigeria — Former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has dedicated an award of appreciation to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, for ensuring the completion of the College of Medical Sciences at Rivers State University (RSU).
Amaechi, who served as governor of Rivers State from 2007 to 2015, initiated the project but was unable to complete it before leaving office. His successor, Wike, carried on with the project, leading to the college’s matriculation of its first set of medical students in 2018.
The former minister expressed his gratitude during the induction ceremony of the college’s pioneer medical graduates into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) on Thursday in Port Harcourt.
The college management presented the award to Amaechi in recognition of his contributions to educational development and his role in establishing the College of Medical Sciences. Amaechi commended Wike for prioritizing the institution and ensuring its successful completion.
