The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, on Thursday announced the appointment of Fred Agbedi as the new Minority Leader of the House.
Speaking during plenary, the Speaker disclosed that Agbedi’s emergence was the result of a unanimous decision reached by members of the Minority Caucus.
In a letter read on the floor of the House, the caucus explained that Agbedi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one of the most experienced lawmakers in the chamber, was selected by consensus to fill the position.
The office became vacant following the resignation of Kingsley Chinda, who stepped down to pursue his governorship ambition under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
