The Returning Officer for the Abia State governorship election, Nnenna Oti has revealed that she was offered money to rig the poll which produced Alex Otti of LP as winner.
Oti, VC of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri said this when she was received by the staff and students of the institution Today.
She said before the final declaration of result, she was promised huge amount of money to change the outcome, but she refused and insisted that the will of the people must stand.
According to her, she has never participated in any election, but duty came calling and she made her enquiries from Abuja.
“As an electoral officer, I have never in my life participated in any election, but duty came calling, I made my enquiries from Abuja,” she said.
“If I perish, I perish, they came with their threats, they came with their money, they came with their intimidation.”
“I didn’t start today; I stand here before God, Jesus Christ. I have never defrauded anyone, all I did was to declare the riot act as follows: Under me, votes must count. Under me, the people’s mandate will be upheld because I, Professor Nnnena Oti, can never do evil,” she said.
