Abductors of the monarch of Ikuru town in Andoni Local Government Area, has contacted his family and demanded for five billion naira, for him to be released.
The monarch, Aaron Ikuru was abducted three weeks ago in his palace by unknown gunmen.
According to reports, Spokesperson for the palace, Maurice Ikuru, made this known in a chat with journalists, today.
“They had made contact. They said they want five billion naira. I have not heard anything from them again but we are believing God that very soon he will be released,” he said.
The monarch was abducted shortly after a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, Dr Jones Ayuwo was kidnapped, while returning from a programme at Andoni.
Spokesperson of the state Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the release of the lecturer few days ago, said the monarch will soon be released as well.
