The Rivers State Coordinator of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), ASP Raymond Divine Akachim, has died.
POCACOV National Coordinator, SP Orvenonne Ikwen, Ph.D., announced the death in a condolence message, describing Akachim’s passing as a painful loss that has left a deep void within the organisation.
According to Ikwen, the late coordinator was preparing to commence plans and activities for POCACOV in Rivers State, with a commitment to advancing preventive policing, youth engagement and the promotion of safer communities.
He said Akachim’s plans were only beginning to take shape, with communities to be reached, young people to be engaged and lives to be impacted.
The National Coordinator said the sudden death was particularly painful because Akachim’s journey of service had only just begun.
He noted that POCACOV was mourning not only the loss of a coordinator, but also a colleague who had answered the call to serve and was ready to contribute to a cause dedicated to protecting the future of young people.
“Some lives leave this world before the work they set out to do is complete. What remains is the memory of their willingness to serve and the purpose they embraced,” Ikwen said.
He extended the organisation’s condolences to Akachim’s immediate family, loved ones, colleagues and friends, praying that Almighty God would grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
Ikwen also prayed for the peaceful repose of the late Rivers State Coordinator, assuring that his place in the POCACOV family would not be forgotten.
“You had only just begun the journey of service, but your place in the POCACOV family will not be forgotten,” he said.
