The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Council, Hon. Chima Boniface Njoku, has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to tipper drivers operating within the area to relocate their vehicles from roadsides to designated parks approved by the council.
The chairman warned that any driver found parking along roadsides or in unauthorized locations after the expiration of the ultimatum would face legal action.
Hon. Njoku said the directive became necessary following a recent incident involving a child who reportedly ran into a tipper truck illegally parked by the roadside.
According to the council chairman, roadside parking of heavy-duty vehicles had earlier been prohibited because of the dangers posed to residents, especially children and other road users.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and maintaining order across Etche Local Government Area, stressing that all drivers must comply with the directive without delay.
The statement was signed by the Assistant Press Secretary of Etche Local Government Council, Anyanwu ThankGod, on May 28, 2026.
