The Federal Government has approved November 1, 2020 as commencement date for the Special Public Works Programme.
The state Minister of Labour and Productivity, Festus Keyamo had written to the President to extend the programme which was expected to start on October 1st 2020.
He said in a statement that the request for the postponement of the commencement date of the programme was because the proposed project sites were still water-logged and the rains have not abated. The programme, Keyamo says, was designed for execution during the dry season.
The 774,000 Special Works Programme seeks to employ 1000 persons from the 774 Local Government Areas in the country. Participants are expected to clean-up government and public facilities among others.
Keyamo urged applicants to log in to the official website of the programme: www.specialpublicworks.gov.ng for more details.
