42 inmates were yesterday, released from the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre, by three Chief Magistrates deployed to release inmates with minor offences.
The exercise, was in compliance with the directives by the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi as part of effort to decongest the facility.
The released inmates who spoke to news correspondents, commended the Magistrates and the Chief Judge for the exercise.
They promised to be of good conduct and swore never to go back to crime and criminality.
One of the Magistrates, Menenen Poromon, cautioned the released inmates against engaging in crime. He advised them to be good members of the society.
