The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is happy with their current working relationship, adding that retaining political power is what matters to the governor, whether or not he seeks re-election.
Wike made this known during a media chat in Abuja on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
“We and Fubara, we are working together. Fubara is happy. What is important to Fubara, whether he is running or not, is that his political team will still retain the power. That is what is important to him,” Wike said.
On the economic situation in the country, the FCT Minister expressed optimism that Nigerians currently struggling with economic hardship would begin to experience improved living conditions within the next two to three years.
Wike defended President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as difficult but necessary steps towards stabilising the economy and achieving sustainable growth.
He said the current challenges faced by Nigerians would ease over time, expressing confidence that the reforms would eventually yield positive results.
