Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, says the People’s Democratic Party cannot win the 2023 general election with its current National Working Committee led by Prince Uche Secondus.
The governor, said this in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
He explained that despite the fact that Nigerians cannot wait for the PDP to takeover government, the party must be prepared to do so.
Wike stated that problems bedeviling the party were as a result of inert leadership and there must be amendments.
“If you go to the public and ask Nigerians if PDP is ready to take over power in 2023, if you take referendum, you will know that Nigerians are even waiting for PDP. But the fear of Nigerians is whether PDP is ready to take overpower. So, people are concerned about it. Obviously, it is ripe for PDP to take over, but you must be prepared to take over,” he said.
“And we said with what we have now, it will be difficult to take over power in 2023 if there are no amendments. Leadership was the problem. The point is this, the current NWC, as it is today, cannot lead the party to victory.
He noted that anyone who means well for the party will adhere to the resolutions reached after the intervention of the governors and some of its leaders to bring peace to the party.
