Tragedy struck in Ogoloma Community, Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, as a 16-year-old boy lost his life after drowning in a river while swimming with friends.
The victim, identified as Miebaka Koko, reportedly went swimming with three friends at Derock Waterside in Ogoloma on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
According to reports, the teenager was swept away by a strong water current while swimming. Efforts to rescue him were unsuccessful, leading to his death.
The incident has thrown the community into mourning, with residents expressing sadness over the tragic loss of the young boy.
