The Rivers State Police Command, says about 12 persons have been arrested in connection with the attack on supporters of Atiku Abubakar while pasting posters of the presidential hopeful in the state few days ago.
The State Commissioner of Police, Okon Effiong made this known during an interactive session with leaders and candidates of various political parties in the state, in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
He stated that an investigation has been launched into the matter and anyone found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the land.
He revealed that the twelve suspects were apprehended with the help of the internet technology, and that more persons will be arrested in the coming days.
The CP urged party leaders to advise their supporters to play by the rules and shun violence for a peaceful poll.
