A community developer and member of the People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State, Joy Oyaghiri-Fagbemi has rescued her community from blackout by paying for their faulty transformer to be fixed, after they reached out to her on the matter.
Joy, in a statement said she responded swiftly by paying for the transformer and reconnection back to the grid of the Local Council.
Her statement reads,
You don’t need to have a lucrative position, to touch the lives of your people.
When my people reached out to me that they needed light as they had been cut off the grid for about a year, I responded swiftly.
I paid for the transformer to be fixed, which wasn’t cheap. I paid for reconnection back to the LGA grid, and paid for one month worth of electricity bills. All this from my pocket.
The joy I saw in the faces of men, women and youths of my community, the text messages of gratitude, was truly humbling.
Charity they say, begins at home and Omokwa Community in Abua Odual LGA is my home. I will continue to do all I can within my power to ensure they enjoy the dividend of having a daughter like me in the political space.
My name is Joy Oyaghiri-Fagbemi, I am a daughter, wife, mother, youth leader and community developer.
