The immediate past Youth President of Umuebulu Community in Etche Local Government Area, Rivers State, Godwin Njoku has been reportedly assassinated by unknown assailants in the community, Today.
According to reports, the victim was killed in the same community where the police arrested Ndubuisi Anthony, an alleged serial killer who killed and threw the bodies of his victims into a septic tank.
The state Police PRO, Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the incident to journalists Today, said the police are currently investigating issues surrounding the killing of Njoku, in order to bring the perpetrators to book.
The incident has been linked to land tussle and other communal issues involving the victim in the area. Meanwhile, residents of the community have called on security to be beefed up in the community, to forestall the outbreak of such incidents.
