A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alwan Hassan, has criticised former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, over remarks crediting his wife’s entrepreneurial drive for the family’s financial stability.
Hassan, speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, on Tuesday, argued that Amaechi had effectively disqualified himself from leadership by admitting he relies on his wife, Judith Amaechi, for financial support.
According to Hassan, such a statement suggests Amaechi is not in control of his household and therefore unfit to lead the nation. “Nigeria cannot be handed over to a man who is being fed by his wife,” he declared.
Amaechi, a former Rivers State governor and 2027 presidential aspirant, had earlier appeared on the same programme where he described his wife as the “backbone” of their family and attributed their financial strength to her industriousness, saying her business acumen long predates his public service career.
