A young man identified as Uzoma Efule in his twenties, has been shot dead by an unknown gunman at Ojike street, Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt.
Spokesperson of the state Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident in a chat with news correspondents, on Tuesday.
He said the command is investigating the incident with a view to arresting the culprit and also ensure adequate protection of residents of the area.
The incident according to eye witnesses happened on Monday night, at the front of a supermarket in the area. They said the deceased had gone to shop at the supermarket, when the assailant stormed the place, shot him and ran away.
The incident comes just days after over four persons, were killed in the area, after a supremacy battle by two rival cult groups.
Meanwhile, residents have called on the Police to increase patrol in the area, as cultists have been on rampage in recent times, killing and robbing members of the public.
