Today the Acting State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Rivers State, Hon. Chukwuemeka Aaron met with the State Executives of the party, Executive Chairmen, and Local Government Party Chairmen to officially intimate them of the Christmas largesse provided by the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike comprising of 2,000 bags of rice and cash incentives to the 319 wards across the state.
While commending the Minister for the enormous package, he thanked the Governor for reaching out to the wards as well.
He chastised some Chairmen who did not do due diligence in terms of distributing the largesse provided by the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, stating:
“How can you be Chairman of Council without working with the Governor? Last time the Governor gave all the wards 100 bags of rice and 1 cow, the way those things were distributed did not go well.
This time around, it won’t happen again. The minister has given 2,000 bags of rice to each LGA, please endeavor to work together so that thesr items will trickle down.”
He urged everyone present to not be distracted by the behaviours of some persons parading themselves as elders and signing off documents which can hamper the peace accord signed by both parties. He said, “Somebody you didn’t vote for, you didn’t campaign for, you didn’t go to tribunal for, how can you come now to say you are an elder. Are you an elder of PDP? Both men are in this party and the issues are being resolved.
“Siminalayi Fubara meant well for Rivers State, all these crisis are distractions
We need to pray for peace to reign, so that we can enjoy the two leaders. Those people that Rivers “State did not favour, Abuja will favour and vice versa.
“As party people, send a message to the Governor and Minister and thank them for the Christmas package because both of them have tried.
“You must support the governor, you have no choice. The enabling environment we have is because he is there.
“The Minister, they’re both meeting, send him a text as well to thank him.”
Hon. Aaron reiterated his commitment to ensure that peace is restored between both parties, stating:
“I don’t know why I came during crisis but I will restore peace.
“We must preach peace and promote peace among the party in the state.
“For those people influencing the crisis, by writing communique and signing letters, we know you are not members of our party and did not work to put Sim there as Governor, therefore, you cannot reap where you did not sow.”
He thanked everyone for coming and wishes them a successful yuletide period.
