Yibo Koko, the Director General of the Rivers State Tourism Development Agency(RSTDA) has disclosed that he is pushing for a N100 billion grand scheme that is set to change the narrative of the Niger Delta via culture and tourism.
Yibo who disclosed this in an interview over the weekend, said he is convinced that tourism in Rivers State has the potential to generate over N100 billion with the possibility of expanding to trillions of Naira in a few years.
The DG who is determined to change the false perception people have about the Niger Delta region said, its high time violent agitation gives way to the creative economy.
“it is fundamental to note that whereas the Niger Delta is blessed with numerous cerebral minds, we seem not to have made the most of these intangible assets,” he said.
He noted that majority of youths who have become cheap recruits for oil bunkering, cults, kidnapping, political thuggery and other vices, can be creatively engaged and their talent harnessed.
