The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH, has reacted to the death of a social media influencer YemiThePlug who allegedly died due to negligence on the part of a nurse after he had an asthma attack and was rushed to the hospital.
Acting Public Relations Officer of the hospital in a statement yesterday said preliminary investigation showed that Yemi was brought in dead.
According to him, a panel would be set up to investigate what truly transpired, and commiserated with the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.
However, some of Yemi’s friends claimed that he was rushed to the hospital alive but, was left unattended to till it was confirmed that his mum is a staff of the hospital.
Yesterday, a group of angry youths barricaded the hospital over the incident.
The youths; friends and colleagues of the deceased were at the hospital to demand an explanation on how Yemi died.
The deceased whose mother is a Deputy Director in the Department of Nursing was a popular social media Personnel in Port Harcourt.
