PORT HARCOURT — A 43-year-old woman identified as Gift is in police custody after reportedly biting off the tip of her lover’s penis during a violent altercation in Port Harcourt on Thursday, May 15.
The incident occurred on Bishop Okoye Street in Mile 3 Diobu, where Gift allegedly attacked her partner, Mr. Sunday, following a dispute over sex. According to reports, the confrontation began when Mr. Sunday demanded sex, which Gift refused, accusing him of relying on sex-enhancement drugs that resulted in excessively prolonged encounters.
The situation escalated when Mr. Sunday allegedly attempted to force himself on her, prompting Gift to retaliate by biting off part of his genitalia in what sources described as an act of self-defense.
Mr. Sunday’s screams reportedly drew the attention of neighbors. Before a mob could attack the woman, officers from the Nkpolu Police Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, arrived and took her into protective custody.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Meanwhile, Gift remains detained as authorities investigate the incident.
Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest, stating, “Yes, I can confirm the incident. The woman, aged 43, has been arrested. Investigation is ongoing.”
The case has sparked widespread discussion within the community regarding domestic violence, sexual consent, and self-defense in intimate relationships.
