Criticisms have trailed Governor Nyesom Wike’s car gifts to the 29 Chairmen of the State Customary Courts. This is as some stakeholders have described it as a “misplaced priority.”

The governor had yesterday presented the vehicles to the Chief judge of the state, Justice Iyayi Laminkara to hand over to the chairmen of the courts.

The stakeholders during a call-in programme on radio, immediately after the announcement was made yesterday, blasted the governor for the act.

They said this would be the third set of vehicles gifted to members of the state judiciary in five just months, despite the unbearable hardship currently witnessed in the state and the country at large.

The callers noted that the money would have been used to support traders whose shops have been closed for over three weeks, at the Rumuokoro market, due to the curfew imposed in the area.
