Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has vowed to strictly enforce the Abuja Master Plan, warning that anyone who violates approved land use regulations will face sanctions.
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Wike said the FCT Administration will not tolerate any attempt to obstruct its officials from performing their lawful duties or allow individuals to convert land meant for agriculture into residential or commercial developments without approval.
“Government cannot function in a lawless society. If we allow one person to violate the rules because of who they are, others will follow. That is how impunity begins. We must learn to obey the law irrespective of who is involved,” he said.
Wike recalled that similar issues involving land disputes had in the past been resolved amicably through engagement with relevant authorities, including the military hierarchy.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that Abuja remains a disciplined, well-planned, and lawful city.
“As long as I remain FCT Minister, the law will take its course. Abuja must reflect the image of Nigeria—disciplined, planned, and lawful,” he declared.
