Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor local government Area, Amb.Chijioke Ihunwo has accused the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike of sending Police officers to forcefully eject traders from the newly opened Oginigba Market.
Ihunwo in a statement today, alleged that the officers from the anti-cultism unit and the C4i unit of the Nigerian Police Force were led by CSP Mohammed, and CSP Masalachi.
According to him, he has alerted the commissioner of police on the invasion, explaining that the intention of the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike is to forcefully take over the land.
“I got information this morning that armed policemen led by CSP Mohammed and CSP Masalachi took over the Oginigba slaughter market which was opened by the council some weeks ago, immediately I have to put a call to the commissioner of police and the assistant commissioner of police in charge of operations, I told them that the two police officers in company of others invaded the market shooting and throwing teargas to chase the traders away.”
“For me, this is disheartening because despite repeated warnings by Nigerians on their activities, some police officers like CSP Mohamed and CSP Masalachi are still allowing themselves to be used by selfish politicians like the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike to push his personal agenda, they fail to learn from history.Where is Mbu Joseph Mbu today after all he did for Nyesom Wike when he served as governor of Rivers state, “he asked.
Ihunwo went further to explain that the FCT minister, Nyesom Ezenwo did not buy the land either as minister or when he served as the governor of Rivers state.
He asked members of the public and the traders to be calm and allow the government to deal with the infraction.
“That market belongs to Oginigba people and no one can acquire a property without paying its original owners, as I speak, there is no record or documents to show that the FCT minister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike acquired that land and that is why we opened up the market for public use some weeks ago, i dont know why he is not content with the parcel he forcefully took to build his shopping mall, HyperCity,” he added.
