A bill seeking to ban open grazing of livestock in Rivers state has been sent to the State House of Assembly for enactment by Governor Nyesom Wike.
Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Ikunyi Ibani disclosed this during plenary, on Monday.
The Governor, noted that the bill when passed into law will end the persistent farmer-herder clashes in the state.
He said it is in compliance with the “unanimous prohibition of open rearing of grazing of livestock in southern states of Nigeria by the Southern Governors forum.
Southern Governor’s had in a meeting agreed to ban open grazing in their respective states.
