Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he will not contest the 2027 presidential election, citing integrity and loyalty to President Bola Tinubu.
Wike made the disclosure during a media chat on Monday, dismissing speculations about his ambition following the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) decision to zone its presidential ticket to the South.
“I will not run. I have integrity, and I have character. There is no way my appointor (President Tinubu) is there, and we are saying he should run, and then I turn around and say I will run,” Wike said.
He described the PDP’s zoning move as “too late” and reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s second-term bid. Wike also criticized those lobbying former President Goodluck Jonathan and Labour Party’s Peter Obi to accept the PDP ticket, accusing them of working to divide the party.
