Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has revealed that Minister of Transportation and former Governor of the State, Chibuike Amaechi had mocked him saying that there would not be enough money for him to pay salaries and provide infrastructure for the people of the state.
Govenor Wike who made the revelation after inspecting the on-going shore protection work at the sand filled land in Port Harcourt, attributed the success of his urban renewal programme to the financial prudence by his administration.
“The urban renewal programme is a great success as far as we are concerned. So many people are asking to know where we are getting the money when there is Covid-19. What’s important to us is management. When once you know how to manage resources, you will not have problems. We are also impressed with the reaction of the people,” he stated.
The governor also said the ten hectares of dredged land located opposite the NLNG head office will be developed amongst other projects to further enhance the aesthetics of Port Harcourt city.
