A former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Bola Tinubu, Aliyu Audu, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of manipulating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) while still being a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Audu, who recently resigned from the administration, claimed Wike is using his ministerial position to undermine the PDP while wielding significant control over the APC structures in both Rivers State and the FCT.
“Wike is destroying the PDP with the support of the President because the FCT Minister’s office is a position of power that can be used to back the President,” Audu said.
He also announced his decision to work against President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, citing a lack of access and recognition during his time in office.
Despite serving as a presidential spokesperson, Audu revealed he was never granted a personal meeting with the President in nearly two years. He criticized Tinubu for instead meeting with Afrobeat artist Davido, who had previously criticized the President, and Lagos politician Abdul-Azeez Adediran, known as Jandor.
“I worked for the President for nearly two years without a sit-down. I’m one of his spokespersons, but he met with Davido, who insulted him weeks before, and Jandor, who didn’t even come second in the Lagos election. It doesn’t make sense,” he lamented.
