The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has responded to comments credited to the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief John Mbata, who allegedly described him as a “semi-illiterate.”
Speaking in Abua/Odual, Rivers State, Wike dismissed the remark as inconsequential, pointing to his political trajectory and public service record as evidence of his capacity and achievements.
“He said I’m semi-illiterate, that I used to wash his car,” Wike said. “The same person who used to do that is a two-time governor, a council chairman, and now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory—positions he cannot attain.”
The former Rivers State governor further stressed that decisions already taken in the state would stand, insisting that no amount of criticism or name-calling would alter the course of events.
“We have made a decision in this state, and nothing will happen other than what we have said,” Wike added.
The exchange follows rising political tensions and sharp verbal attacks among key actors, as alignments and counter-alignments continue to shape the political landscape in Rivers State and beyond.
