The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, has announced the arrival of the first batch of rice donated to his orphanage by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Chinyere in a statement on Tuesday, said that 1,000 bags out of the 10,000 bags of rice pledged by the minister had been delivered to his residence.
Expressing appreciation for the gesture, the cleric thanked the FCT minister for what he described as a timely intervention, noting that feeding remains one of the most pressing needs of the children under his care.
According to him, more than 500 children currently live in his facility, the majority of whom are orphans abandoned as infants.
He explained that many of the children were reportedly left at his gate by unknown persons, while others were brought in by officers of the Nigeria Police after being rejected by some motherless baby homes.
Chinyere added that over the years, some of the children raised in the home have grown into adults and are now married. He stated that the feeding, education, clothing, and medical care of the children are funded through church tithes, offerings, donations, and his personal resources.
The cleric reiterated that food supply remains a major concern for the orphanage and described the rice donation as significant support toward sustaining the children.
