The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has dismissed claims that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, allocated 2,082 hectares of land in Maitama and Asokoro to his son, describing the report as baseless and malicious.
In a statement issued Thursday, the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said no land has been allocated to any of the Minister’s children. He described the allegation as “another falsehood from those whose main job is to malign the FCT Minister.”
Olayinka criticized the publication, calling its authors “quack journalists” lacking basic journalistic training. “In Maitama and Asokoro of today, where is 2,082 hectares of land to allocate to anyone?” he questioned.
He further challenged the publisher to provide any evidence of land allocation bearing the name of any of Wike’s children, noting that the only document cited in the report was a Right of Occupancy issued to JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited for agricultural use in Bwari Area Council.
“For the avoidance of doubt, JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited, a duly registered company in Nigeria, received land allocation for farming purposes—not in Maitama or Asokoro,” the statement clarified.
While affirming that the Minister or his family members are legally entitled to own land in the FCT if due process is followed, Olayinka emphasized that no such allocation had been made in this case.
He urged the public to disregard the report, which he described as driven by “malice and bitterness.”
