The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Professor Chituru Godwill Orluwene as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH).
Wike expressed gratitude to the President for finding another indigene of Rivers State deserving of a key federal appointment, noting that Tinubu has consistently shown goodwill towards the state and its people. He reaffirmed his support for the President, describing his leadership as people-focused and progressive.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the FCT Minister described the appointment as a well-considered decision, saying it placed “a round peg in a round hole.” He urged Professor Orluwene to deploy his vast professional experience to further improve healthcare delivery at UPTH in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Wike also commended the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, for recommending Orluwene for the position.
Congratulating the new CMD, Wike encouraged him to work closely with all stakeholders within the hospital to ensure the sustained provision of quality healthcare services to Nigerians.
