The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticized Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State over what he described as “political inconsistency and character flaws.”
Wike in a statement said that in 2022, when President Bola Tinubu emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Mohammed visited Port Harcourt and urged him to support Tinubu, insisting he could never work with Atiku Abubakar.
“Not even four days later, the same Bala moved to support Atiku,” Wike said. He added that in a more recent meeting at his Abuja residence, Bala Mohammed had told him that Atiku “hates him” and that he could never support him, which was why he could not join the APC and suggested reconciliation within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike expressed disbelief at the governor’s political shifts, stating, “This same Bala has now moved to Atiku’s party. What kind of character is that?”
The FCT Minister’s remarks highlight tensions and accusations of opportunism in Nigeria’s political landscape as politicians navigate party loyalties ahead of upcoming elections.
