Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticized former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over his recent comments condemning the state of the nation under the current administration.
Wike, speaking to journalists on Monday, accused Amaechi of hypocrisy, noting that the former minister had held top positions in government for over two decades. “He was Speaker for eight years, Governor for eight years, and Minister for another eight. Just two years out of power and he says he is hungry — that’s an insult to Nigerians,” Wike said. “He is not hungry for food; he is hungry for power.”
The FCT Minister further claimed that Amaechi failed to demonstrate effective leadership in his previous roles. “As governor, he couldn’t produce a successor. As minister, he couldn’t even deliver 25 percent of the vote for his president,” Wike alleged.
He also dismissed the viability of Amaechi’s political coalition in Rivers State, questioning its relevance and effectiveness in the current political landscape.
