The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of being the chief instigator of the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement released on Sunday and shared with PREMIUM TIMES, Wike alleged that Makinde, once his political ally, conspired with other PDP leaders to undermine resolutions aimed at resolving internal disputes within the opposition party.
Wike linked the party’s persistent post-2023 election turmoil to a breakdown of trust and transparency among its leadership. He cited the current controversy surrounding the North-Central zonal elections as an example of what he described as continued sabotage.
“I had thought we could keep the trust amongst us, but it is now obvious they will continue to play games,” Wike stated. “I have firmly decided to pull out of all agreements hitherto reached. I have decided to fight on until justice is attained.”
The minister’s remarks mark a new chapter in the escalating tensions within the PDP, as key figures remain divided over the party’s future direction.
