Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has awarded Grammy award winning Singer, Damini Ogulu globally known as Burna Boy a land in GRA, and a cash prize.
The Governor disclosed this during a homecoming and appreciation tour in honor of the singer, who emerged winner of the Best Global Music Album, at the just concluded Grammy Awards ceremony.
Wike who said the State is proud of Burna Boy for the rare distinction of becoming a winner of the prestigious Grammy award, described him as the “pride of Rivers State.”
“There is no Rivers person that will say he or she is not happy with the kind of pride you’ve brought us. I am very happy and I can tell you, whatever you think we can do to promote you, we will continue to do it,” he said.
The show which was hosted in Port Harcourt by the Rivers State Government, had in attendance top government functionaries, entertainment personnel and residents of the state, who came out in their numbers to honor the singer.
I think it’s OK to celebrate people when they succeed but he should also channel this same level of energy into helping his citizens. When was the last time he employed people in Rivers state? Cost of living is increasing everyday and people are hungry, flyovers won’t put food on the plate. He should do better.
