The people of Isiokpo in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers state, have called on the US authorities to send back the remains of their son – Herbert Wigwe, his wife and son who died in a helicopter crash on Saturday in California.
One of the leaders of the community made the call in a chat with journalists during a peace walk in the area to mourn their hero Today.
He described the incident as a big loss to the Ikwerre nation, Rivers state and the country at large.
Meanwhile, the Isiokpo traditional council has declared an 8-day mourning period beginning on February 14th as a sign of affection for the tragic loss.
Traditional Ruler of the community, HRM ,King Blessing A. N. Wagor disclosed this in a statement.
He said all business activities will be closed on the first day, with low-key operations afterward, as he encouraged residents to wear black hand bands in honor of the departed.
