The wife of the Executive Chairman of Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Barinem Kobani has called on the girl child to speak up whenever they are sexually molested or rape.
Barinem, who made the call during a sensitization campaign against Rape and Advocacy for Girl Child Education, organised by the National Union of Gokana students, said the girl child needs education and not rape or sexual molestation.
The outspoken wife of the Council Boss who called for close parenting as one of the measures to prevent the menace, noted that the act is abominable, wicked, and should be condemned by all. She equally promised to always assist the student union in their good works as she commended them for the initiative.
The Vice President of the Union, Faith Tubama in her remarks said, the girl child is an asset to the nation and not a commodity. She noted that the union is working with the wife of the Council Boss against rape and all forms of sexual abuses.
