PORT HARCOURT — Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged Nigerians to reject the newly formed political coalition, accusing its members of seeking power for selfish interests rather than national progress.
Wike made the call on Saturday at the 35th Combined Convocation and 50th Anniversary celebration of the University of Port Harcourt, where he was conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Science degree in Political Science.
In his address, the former Rivers State governor described members of the coalition as long-time political actors with little to show for their time in office. He alleged that rather than contribute meaningfully to nation-building, they are now working to undermine the current administration.
“These are individuals who have spent decades in public office without tangible achievements. In just two years of this administration, they are already plotting to destabilize efforts to rebuild the country they helped ruin,” Wike said.
He further warned that the coalition’s activities are rooted in “lies, hate, and division,” and accused its members of orchestrating a campaign of propaganda and political disruption.
Wike called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and resist what he described as “unpatriotic drumbeats of division.”
