Chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd says the insatiable desire for wealth and the pursuit for self aggrandizement are some of the reasons why many public officers fail to make impact with their positions while in office.
Dr. Lloyd made this known at the commissioning of the Emohua Primary Healthcare Annex and Doctor’s Lounge Building built by his administration, at the local government council secretariat complex on Monday.
According to him, public office holders can impact meaningfully in the lives of the people if they eschew greed and avarice and stick to the purpose for which they were elected or appointed into office.
He said,“It is not impossible for public officers to perform but you can only do so when you eschew greed and avarice, and when you have the fear of God.
“Nobody gave me any timetable on what to do as chairman of Emohua LGA but I conceived the best legacies I can leave for my people.
“So, once you eschew greed and avarice, and when you have the fear of God in you and care about the well-being of the people, there is nothing you can’t do within the available resources”.
