Super Eagles striker and Galatasaray forward, Victor Osimhen, has disclosed that he wears a protective face mask due to a metal plate surgically implanted in his face following a serious injury.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, Osimhen recounted the events surrounding the procedure that altered both his appearance and career. He revealed that the surgery became necessary after a doctor assessed the severity of his facial injury and recommended immediate intervention.
“The doctor said I had to undergo surgery quickly based on what he saw,” Osimhen said. “At first, I refused. I was scared it would change my appearance. I told him, ‘I can’t allow you to cut my face. I’m managing the little fine boy looks I have.’”
The forward eventually agreed to the procedure, which involved inserting an iron plate into his face. The protective mask he now wears has since become a trademark feature of his appearances on the pitch.
