Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, says he refused to challenge the declaration of a State of Emergency in the state because he believes no price is too high to pay for peace.
Fubara stated this during a statewide broadcast on Friday, where he addressed Rivers people following the resolution of the recent political crisis.
The governor explained that peace was restored after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu intervened and brokered reconciliation between him and his predecessor, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
He commended President Tinubu for ensuring the return of democratic governance in the state, expressing gratitude for his role in stabilising the situation.
Fubara also called on Rivers people to put aside their differences and work together for the development of the state, noting that “indeed, peace has returned.”
He stated that he is main focus is to return to work and improve the well-being of all Rivers people.
