The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has alleged that Governor Nyesom Wike is planning to give up parts of the state to neighbouring states for political gains.
Factional Spokesperson of the party, Ognonna Nwuke made the allegations in a statement in Port Harcourt yesterday.
He said weeks after the National Boundary Commission ceded some parts of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni and Etche Local Government Areas to other states, the Governor is yet to act on the matter.
“We are shocked that a Government that rushes to the mass media over mundane matters, and runs to court over political matters that are largely unnecessary is unable to speak on the fate of people who are being told that they have lost their right to be seen as Rivers sons and daughters,” he said.
“We wonder why Governor Nyesom Wike has not spoken. Is there something that the Governor knows that the Rivers people do not know? Is he trying to play politics with the future, size and population of Rivers State and its people?” Nwuke added.
He said the party condemns the silence of the Governor on the issue and urge Rivers people to speak up and ensure he acts.
