The Nigeria Police Force says no police officer or local vigilante personnel has the right to arrest any lady over wearing of bum shorts or mini-skirts or going out without brassiere and wearing dreadlocks or earrings by men.
DSP Bright Edafe – Delta State Public Relations Officer, made this known in a video he posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
According to him, none of the dress codes was an offence.
“I have been getting complaints that members of the public, particularly residents in Delta State, are being harassed sometimes by vigilantes, anti-cult, hunters association and some recalcitrant police officers,” he said.
“I want to make it very clear that on the issue of dress code, improper dressing, boys carrying dreadlocks, wearing earrings, girls wearing bum shorts or mini-skirts or girls going out without bra; it is not an offence,” he added.
