Chairman of the Private Sector Union in Rivers State, Temple Melford says the union in solidarity with the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour congress, would cripple the state, if the government failed to meet the demands of workers.
Melford, disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, over the weekend.
According to him, seaports, airports, banks amongst others, would be shutdown in solidarity with NLC at the appropriate time.
On her part, Chairperson of the state Labour Congress, Beatrice Itubor said civil servants in the state have remained stagnant due to lack of promotion.
She slammed the state government for failing to fulfil the agreement reached with the union, adding that workers in the state are being neglected.
She also slammed civil servants for not standing up to their rights as she noted that employees must agitate to get what they deserve from their employers.
