—–Holds meeting with heads of security agencies.
The Obio Akpor Security Council is moving swiftly to arrest criminals who engage in stealing from passengers in public vehicles popularly known as “one chance”.
To make this work, the Obio Akpor Security council is planning to meet with relevant stakeholders including the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW.
The chairman, caretaker committee of Obio Akpor local government area, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo who spoke with journalists at the end of a security meeting said he is worried with the alarming rate of criminality within the local government area.
He said the meeting also agreed to shut down the motor park beside the council secretariat in Rumuodomanya as part of strategies to chase out criminals.
The Obio Akpor council boss further assured everyone living and doing business in the local government of his readiness to do everything within his powers to make the local government safe and habitable for all.
“You are also aware that criminals carry people on the road, collect their money and drop them, they call them one chance, so council has decided to call the chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW in Rivers state and that of Obio Akpor for a meeting to know how we can fish out these criminals, we also discussed the issue of car theft and during the meeting one of the security heads told us that her car was stolen at Woji so we agreed that we will put adequate measures in place with immediate effect to end this ugly incidents in our LGA’.
The meeting was attended by heads of security agencies in the local government including the Police, DSS, Civil Defence amongst others.
