The factional Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chief Tony Okocha, has announced that the party intends to demolish low-cost housing units built by Governor Siminalayi Fubara in Aluu if they assume governance in 2027.
Speaking at a press briefing in Port Harcourt, Okocha criticized the housing project, describing the structures as substandard and unbefitting for residents of the state.
“When we take over the house in 2027, our first assignment will be to demolish the low-cost houses built by Governor Fubara in Aluu….those houses are smaller than my gateman’s house,” he said.
The statement has sparked debate over the state government’s housing initiatives, which aim to provide affordable housing for low-income earners.
