The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, says the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu must be joking for saying that members of the union will not be paid for the six months strike.
President of ASUU, Emmanuel Osodeke in a statement on Friday, said if the government fails to pay, they will not teach students to make up for the strike period.
He also said they will not conduct examination, and begin a new session, adding that lecturers are not doctors that once a life is gone, it cannot be brought back.
Part of his statement reads,
The Minister of Education Adamu Adamu must be joking for saying ASUU will not be paid for the six months strike.
“If they fail to pay, we will not teach those students, we won’t make up for that period. We will start a new session 2022/2023, we won’t conduct examination, we will start a fresh session totally.
“Lecturers are not doctors that once life is gone, it can’t be brought back. For lecturers, we can still resume where we stopped and still teach them and make up for lost time.
“If they want to do no work no pay, we will do no pay no work . If they won’t pay the backlog, we won’t teach the backlog.
