The Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Chidinma Oreh says they seek a state where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.”
Oreh, disclosed this during an announcement that the Rivers State Governor, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has approved and released the sum of one hundred and twenty-six million Naira (N126, 000, 000) for the procurement and last-mile distribution of essential #FamilyPlanning commodities.
According to her, this investment addresses the significant funding gap in family planning and will increase contraceptive access, reduce unmet needs, and ultimately lower maternal, infant, and child mortality rates.
Dr Oreh commended Gov Fubara for his unwavering commitment to improving the health outcomes of the state, “Sir, we are grateful for your leadership and look forward to your continued commitment towards achieving our health goals”.
She also acknowledges the strong advocacy efforts of partners such as the World Health Organization, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), DKT International, MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices, John Snow International, Society for Family Health Nigeria, and White Ribbon Alliance.
