The National Youth Council of Nigeria says it has uncovered plots by the Rivers State Government to cause crisis in the group in the State.
COMR. N-EPBA GOODNESS, Administrative Secretary, NYCN Rivers State made the allegation in a statement on Friday.
He said, “It has come to our attention that there is a grand plot sponsored by the Rivers State Government and aimed at suspending the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter (NYCN), Comrade Nwisabari Bani Samuel.
“Intelligence report has it that The Government Of Rivers State have procured some gullible Youths to gather today Friday 3rd January 2025 at Fair Heaven Hotel, Rumuekini Ada George and attempt to cause crises in our state Chapter. Reports have it that the decision of the Government is born out of the Chairman’s Consistent advocacy for the rule of Law in the state, especially on the Council’s Position on the 2025 Appropriation Bill Presented by the Governor to a 3 man Assembly.
“We want to emphasize, with utmost clarity, that the State Executive Council of the NYCN has no scheduled meeting for today or at any time regarding this matter. Any results or resolutions produced from any unrecognized meeting do not represent the views, actions, or authority of the NYCN Rivers State.”
“We urge the public to be vigilant and to disregard any information or announcements that imply an official meeting has taken place or that lead to conclusions about the suspension of our Chairman. It is crucial to ensure that the integrity and unity of our Council remain intact, and misinformation serves only to create unnecessary confusion and division.”
