The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, says the people of Obio/Akpor have been liberated from those whose intent was to mortgage the future of Obio/Akpor people, because they feel the local government belongs to them as their private estate.

Ihunwo said this when he received the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Obio/Akpor chapter, at the Council Secretariat on Wednesday.

He said to sustain the liberation, and making sure the people of Obio/Akpor continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy, the people of Obio/Akpor should continue to support the policies and programs of His Excellency, Sir 0Siminalayi Fubara the Executive Governor of Rivers State.

According to him, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara the Executive Governor of Rivers State has contributed immensely to the liberation of not just Obio/Akpor people, but the entire State, by giving his blessings to young men and women to contest the October 5th local government election that gave opportunity to young men emerging as Chairmen.

He called on the youth leaders to continue to support the Governor, stressing that his principal is a silent achiever, that has calmly executed laudable projects in most local government areas of Rivers State without media hype nor much publicity. He gave an opportunity to the youth body to nominate two special assistants that will serve in his cabinet.

“This local government belongs to us, today is my turn, tomorrow it might be your turn or the turn of your children. What we are doing is not out of place, what we are doing is the right thing and the right thing is that, let them allow the Governor to govern the State. You are also aware that those who want to mortgage the future of Obio/Akpor people, those who feel that this local government belongs to them as their private estate, we have succeeded in pushing them away.

“This is the time of liberation. We have succeeded in liberating ourselves, and in doing that, we must continue to support the policies and programs of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara the Executive Governor of Rivers State. Our Governor is a man that has conscience, he doesn’t talk too much, he is busy doing his projects, he is a silent achiever, what he needs is our support. On that note I’m giving the national youth council the opportunity to nominate two special assistants,” he said.
